Chautauqua County Crisis Response Fund awards grants
The Chautauqua County Crisis Response Fund has awarded an additional $13,134 in Open Safe Micro-Grants to 17 non-profit organizations.
The grants help organizations re-open and meet the requirements and recommendations of health and safety guidelines. Grants awarded from the Open Safe Micro-Grant program total $21,337.
The following organizations received recent Open Safe Micro-Grants: 1891 Fredonia Opera House, Bethel Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Christian Academy, Boys and Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, Breathe Life of WNY Inc., CC Chapter NYSARC, Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System, Family Service of the Chautauqua Region, Healing Word Ministries Church of God, Housing Options Made Easy Inc., Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown, Mental Health Association, North Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Roger Tory Peterson Institute, Salvation Army of Jamestown and Dunkirk, and the YWCA of Westfield.
Open Safe Micro-Grants are available to help nonprofits as they re-open. Supplies and materials may include personal protective equipment, cleaning, disinfectant and sanitation supplies, hygiene or supplies for health screenings, materials for reconfiguring space, or other safety supplies for the protection of employees, clients, and visitors.
The Crisis Response Fund is accepting applications for the next round of Open Safe Micro-Grants. Requests for $500 or less are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed weekly. The grant application and additional information are available to nonprofits on the Chautauqua County Crisis Response Fund website at chautauquagrants.org/chautauqua-county-crisis-response-fund.
To date, awards of more than $264,000 from the Chautauqua County Crisis Response Fund have been given to help organizations meet the immediate, emergency and basic human needs in Chautauqua County. For the next phase of funding, a minimum of $600,000 is available to focus on providing general operational support grants to nonprofits that have either lost revenue due to COVID-19 or experienced an increased demand for their services during this time.
Since March 23, the Crisis Response Fund has raised more than $957,502 of its goal of $1 million from individuals, community organizations, local businesses and foundations. The fund is administered by the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County on behalf of a county-wide coalition of philanthropy, government and business partners, including the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation and United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.
